Sometimes I Wonder...

Why people leave their house looking like they do. No comb through their hair, no shower or clothes that are ill fitting.

Why chivalry, manners and politeness is no longer looked for. Manners are important to me, so very important.

Why people don't put on their best for Sunday church. I know, God doesn't care what you look like or what you wear, but I think effort is duly noted, yes?

Why parents let their children run their lives, why parents no longer parent.

I can be guilty of the first thing - well, I ALWAYS brush my hair, but it's hard to care about looking your best when you know that no one at the store is even going to look at you or look even better. It's so freeing - kind of like going out incognito LOL.

As for the last one - grrr! I don't know what happened, but I really wish it would reverse itself. Don't see that any time soon - self perpetuating VERY BAD system.

I have no idea as to why some people neglect their personal appearance/hygiene. Good manners are something that were emphasized by my mother, and grandmother. Chivalry will not be dead, as long as I draw breath. But I do believe some men were confused about how to treat a lady, by all the commotion raised by the feminist movement of the 70s & 80s. And it is also very disturbing how parents would rather be friends with their children than to provide them the proper discipline or upbringing.

Somewhere in my childhood I was taught that you never know who you will run into. SO leave the house looking your best.

My am super anal about my kids looking nice when they leave the house.

It overly bothers me to see kids out in public where the parents look great but the kids have messed up hair and snot running down there face. How hard it is seriously.

I am with you. Take some pride ppl!

Do you know that I have had women take me to task for doing things such as opening doors for them... or pulling the chair out for them to sit...? I will get remarks such as... "I am capable of doing this myself?" and other such put-downs...

As for a point that Kurt stresses, I will ALWAYS be a parent first when it comes to my kids. They can have all the friends they want/need, but only a parent will give them direction.

However, from what I see from most parents today, it's not that much.

Manners are very important to me too...I tell my kids "I can't hear you if you are not using manners" I am guilty however of running out the door after only splashing water on my face running a brush through my hair and brushing my teeth...
